Bioflytech to Produce Flours and Fats from Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae
The company—which operates through its subsidiary in Galicia, Alfaprogal—began activity after becoming the first Spanish company in this innovative sector to obtain authorization to produce, transform, and market this type of product.
The dried black soldier fly larvae used to produce the first batches come from the group's plant in Fuente Álamo, Murcia.
The company recently obtained authorization for the production of flour, a milestone that marks a transition in the production of this type of insect product, where the Bioflytech group is a pioneer.
The flour can be used as an ingredient in pet food, animal feed, and aquaculture, whereas the fat is suitable for use in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
Once the works are completed and the necessary authorization has been obtained, the Galicia facilities will produce 12,000 tons of larvae annually. They will allow Bioflytech to consolidate itself as one of the leaders in the sector worldwide.
