Ojah Expands Production Capacity to Meet Growing Demand for its Plant-based Meat Alternatives

Ojah BV, a leading manufacturer of plant-based meat alternatives, have announced the expansion of its production facilities to meet the growing demand for its meat alternatives technology. This expansion will allow the company to continue to provide its customers with its high quality and innovative products and maintain its position as a frontrunner in the industry.

Ojah's success can be attributed to its patented technology based on High Moisture Extrusion- technology that has continued to improve over the past decade. This technology produces complex meat like structures from only 2 components; plant protein and water. Creating nutritious and tasty whole muscle meat analogues, high in protein, low in fats and gluten-free. Ojah has developed a range of consumer products, presented to trade as an ingredient or as ready-to-use. The premium quality and high consumer acceptance of these market leading products have led to an average company growth of 50% year on year.

The expansion will more than double Ojah’s current production capacity, with operations 24/7 to keep up with the strong global demand. In addition, Ojah is investigating opportunities to expand its footprint globally.

Over the past 13 years we have seen the plant-based offering in supermarket shelves grow explosively and become more diverse. We are convinced that the highest quality standard that Ojah has introduced to the market was one of the positive drivers of this acceleration” said CEO Frank Giezen of Ojah BV “Despite the fact that the explosive growth seems to have tempered somewhat due to the current market dynamics, the demand for high-quality products worldwide only continues to grow. We’re thrilled to announce this expansion, which will enable us to further our mission to contribute substantially to the global shift in protein."

Kobus de Klerk, Vice President Proteins at Kerry Group, a majority shareholder in Ojah, acknowledges the tremendous success of Ojah over the past 13 years. “Ojah’s evolution, growth and success has been remarkable. We are excited to continue our partnership with Ojah and this expansion accelerates Kerry’s ambition of being a global leader of plant-based solutions”.
