Kerry’s Probiotic BC30 in Liquid Form Makes Plant-Based Dairy Fortification Much Easier

Kerry has created the first-ever liquid delivery system for its BC30™ (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086), a highly stable spore-forming probiotic ingredient for food and beverage formulations.

It's the first commercially available BC30 in liquid form, designed to help plant-based dairy manufacturers eliminate typical issues with powdered ingredients, such as clump formation, insolubility and airborne contamination.

Benjamin George, Research Scientist at Kerry, elaborates on the new liquid-based ingredient: “The unique liquid version of BC30 overcomes the challenges of adding digestive and immune health support into plant-based dairy-alternative or dairy products."

The 2021 Kerry’s Digestive & Immune Health study found that two out of three American consumers associate ingredients like BC30 with digestive health benefits, while 64% of dairy and alt-dairy consumers would be interested in products fortified with digestive health benefits.

Over 25 published papers shows that BC30 can help support digestive health, immune health, and may help support protein absorption.

"Research has shown that American plant-based consumers are three times more likely to purchase products that contain ingredients like Kerry’s BC30," says George. "On top of that, published peer-reviewed research shows that the inclusion of BC30 supports protein absorption, and this is highly important to consumers seeking an extra nutritional bonus beyond the digestive benefits they have come to expect from many digestive and immune health ingredients.”
