Cargill, and CUBIQ FOODS Collaborate on Novel Fat Technology for Plant-based Foods
Cargill and the up-and-coming food-tech firm CUBIQ FOODS have agreed to work together on product development and commercial go-to-market strategies in response to the demand for healthier, more environmentally friendly, and better-tasting solutions.
Under this strategic alliance, Cargill will have access to CUBIQ's cutting-edge fat technologies to assist customers in creating plant-based alternative foods that offer advantages over conventional products created with animal fats or tropical oils.
Possible benefits could include the following:- flavor enhancement
- improved total fats and saturated fats
- improved caloric content, and
- incorporation of essential fatty acids (omega 3)
The new fats from CUBIQ, such as Go!Drop®, are added to Cargill's current selection of plant-based products, which also include a wide range of conventional fats and oils as well as plant proteins and texturizers.
The new fat technologies have a wide range of uses and are particularly important in the market for plant-based meat and dairy substitutes since fats and oils are essential for structure, flavor, texture, and nutritional profile. The majority of plant-based choices now available fall short of customer expectations, but CUBIQ FOODS' line of "smarter" fats fills the void thanks to advancements that mimic animal fat in terms of appearance, texture, and bite.
Having made its initial investment in CUBIQ FOODS in May 2022, Cargill has the aim of quickly advancing exciting new food technologies in order to offer customers novel solutions. Cargill has already invested in alternative protein innovators PURIS and Upside Foods (formerly known as Memphis Meats) in line with their goal of becoming a leader in innovative new food ingredients.
