AlgaVia™ Sustainable, Highly Concentrated Omega Ingredients for Human Dietary Supplements

With the launch of its new AlgaVia™ product line, Corbion, a market leader in algae-based feed ingredients, has entered into the human nutrition sector. The highly concentrated omegas-rich ingredients are made economically and sustainably through the fermentation of algae, aiming to lessen the burden on marine resources and the carbon footprint associated with the manufacture of dietary supplements.

The AlgaVia™ algae oil portfolio includes omega-3 and omega-9-rich products that serve as the foundation for achieving the precise concentrations required to support and promote human brain cognition, mood, immunity, eye and heart health. The portfolio, which is made available to supplement manufacturers through renowned omegas refiners and concentrators, is designed to tackle the most pressing nutritional and sustainability challenge in the world.

Through sustainable biotechnology, the innovation behind AlgaVia™ products enables the delivery of natural active nutrients for healthy human development, disease prevention, and well-being. The production of these ingredients and the ingredients themselves are in line with current consumer trends, such as the desire for products that offer plant-based and vegan options and have a low carbon footprint and no impact on the ocean.

The foundation of Corbion's algae technology platform is microalgae gathered from the environment. The company has amassed a library of more than 9,000 strains that have been enhanced and developed for use in active nutritional ingredients after several years of research and development.

Corbion's innovative R&D platform isolates thousands of cells per minute using a high-throughput method to identify which variant has the precise amount of lipid and DHA that can be scaled up. In order to achieve maximum productivity under ideal and meticulously controlled circumstances, the company tests 9,000 samples each week.
